DEFRA intends to update its biodiversity metric to place more value on connected habitats when assessing plans to offset damage to wildlife from development.

Wildlife regulator Natural England published an updated draft of DEFRA’s existing biodiversity metric last Friday, two days before the government launched its consultation on proposals to mandate biodiversity ‘net gain’ in England’s planning system.
