A taskforce is to be created that will investigate enshrining the right to a healthy and safe environment in Scottish law alongside a raft of civil, political and human rights.

Scotland’s Expert Advisory Group on Human Rights today recommended that the right to a healthy environment should be put in Scots law or in a Scottish Bill of Rights. The recommendation was immediately welcomed by first minister Nicola Sturgeon who pledged to create a taskforce to take the idea forward.
