Demand for brownfield land to supply new housing is ever growing. Research by Heriot-Watt University, published in May 2018, indicates that England alone needs 340,000 new homes to be built each year until 2031. The pace of redevelopment is increasing, and most local authorities are prioritising land-use allocation and housing provision to support the government’s target of 1.5 million more homes by 2022.
