The waste sector has been pinning a lot of its hopes on DEFRA’s waste and resources strategy, published this week. When pressed for action on extended producer responsibility (EPR), efforts to tackle waste crime, separate food waste collections and the introduction of a deposit return scheme, the government has consistently batted off policy questions with assurances that all would be revealed in this highly-anticipated strategy.
