In a letter to environment secretary Andrea Leadsom, dated 4 January, the British Ecological Society, the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management, the Landscape Institute and the Institution of Environmental Sciences urged the government to adopt many of the recommendations made by the Environmental Audit Committee, including the development of a new environment law.
