Pollution prosecutions fall as water companies improve their act

Prosecutions of water companies for pollution offences in 2005 dropped by more than a quarter to 63, according to the latest data from the environment agencies. Scottish Water was the worst polluter, notching up 11 offences, while Thames had the highest total fines for the second year running.
