Trump pulls the plug on Paris Agreement

The US president announced his decision to annul membership of the climate change treaty on 1 June.

While the Paris Agreement holds no legal obligation it has been heralded as an historic step towards addressing climate change committing nearly 200 countries to restrain long-term global warming “to well below 2°C above pre-industrial levels and… pursue efforts to limit the temperature increase to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels”.
