Norman Purdy was sentenced at Coleraine Magistrates Court on 2 June after pleading guilty to two charges last November.

In March 2015, Northern Ireland Environment Agency officers visited Purdy’s unlicensed scrap yard at Tullaghgore Road, Ballymoney, where they found more than 20 scrap vehicles and a wide range of scrap metals including car doors and panels, engines, alloy wheels, radiators, fencing, angle irons and a kitchen sink illegally stored at his yard. A notice was issued to remove the waste within six months.
