Recycling markets brace as China announces waste import ban

The plastics reprocessing market could be hit hardest by China’s ban while the paper recycling industry is viewing the move as a wake-up call

China filed a notification with the World Trade Organisation (WTO) on 18 July that it intends to ban four classes and 24 kinds of solid waste by the end of 2017.
