Biofuels will dominate renewable transport sector

The fuel sector for transport will be fed by biofuels in spite of growing EV sector, according to the International Energy Agency

Photograph: Gunnar Pippel/123RFBiofuels will represent 93% of total renewable energy  consumption in road transport globally by 2022 compared to just 2% for electric vehicles (EVs), the International Energy Agency (IEA) has said.

Overall the share of renewables in road transport is expected to increase only marginally, from over 4% in 2016 to 4.5% in 2022, according to the group’s forecast published on 4 October. The group published its renewables generation forecasts alongside this report.
