MEPs voted on the measure on 24 October. Although the resolution adopted in Strasbourg has no legal effect, it comes amid widespread public concern over the safety of the world’s most widely used agricultural chemical, which was the subject of a recent European Parliament (EP) hearing over efforts by industry to influence US and EU regulators and a million-strong citizens’ petition calling for a ban.
