Communities to be allowed to decide how shale gas wealth fund is spent

Local communities will get to decide how up to 10% of tax revenues from fracking operations will be spent in their area but payouts are capped at £10m over 25 years

Local communities will get to decide how a shale wealth fund is spent in their local area, under plans set out by the Treasury.

The Treasury outlined its intentions in its response to a consultation on the fund, published on 11 November.
