IEA predicts solar, wind and gas will become core energy resources

Wind and solar will dominate the EU energy agenda but natural gas will continue to rise, according to the International Energy Agency

Wind will become the main source of energy in the EU. Photograph: Wang Song/123RFSolar PV is set to become the cheapest form of energy globally and could account for more than 30% of all new capacity in the next 25 years, according to the International Energy Agency (IEA).

But in the meantime, the IEA predicts wind will become the main source of energy in the EU by the early 2030s, according to its World Energy Outlook 2017 report, published on 14 November.
