Air quality grant for English councils slashed to £2m

DEFRA has almost halved the amount available to tackle pollution hotspots in English towns and cities, although a huge pot for clean air zones remains

The budget for the 2017/18 air quality grant has been set at £2m, although the department has said that more could end up being spent once bids are considered. Despite the name, the cash will be made available from March 2018 to March 2019.
