£420m Transforming Construction fund aims to slash building emissions

Government and industry fund targets £420m at achieving massive cuts in greenhouse gas emissions from the built environment

Housebuilding could be greener, says BEIS. Photograph: Duncan Andison/123RFThe Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) has unveiled a £420m deal to transform the construction industry which aims to reduce greenhouse emissions from the built environment by 50%.

The secretary of state for business, energy and industrial strategy Greg Clark announced on 29 November that the government will invest £170m in the Transforming Construction programme, with a further £250m investment from industry.
