Castle’s APCr aggregate is no longer waste, says EA

Washed aggregate made from incinerator fly ash made by Castle Environmental is not waste, according to the Environment Agency

The aggregate replacement made by Castle Environmental has satisfied the Environment Agency’s end-of-waste criteria, the firm announced on 28 April.

The washed fines aggregate is manufactured from air pollution control residues (APCr) from waste incineration at Stoke-on-Trent and Cardiff. It is used to produce precast concrete blocks.
