HSE reviews workplace hazmat rules

Views are being sought on rules governing hazardous substances, lead and the prevention of explosions in the workplace

The COSHH, CLAW and DSEAR rules promote safety at work. Photograph: FEMAThe Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has kicked off a review of the rules governing the use of hazardous materials in the workplace.

The review, which began on 19 September, covers the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH), the Control of Lead at Work Regulations (CLAW) and the Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations (DSEAR). The handling of asbestos is excluded.
