Repeal bill fails to allay concerns over nature conservation laws

Protection for nature could still be rolled back and there may be less accountability after Brexit, warn conservation and policy experts

The promise of a “Great Repeal Bill’ has failed to reassure environmental policy experts that nature will be protected after Brexit.

RSPB conservation director Martin Harper, English Wildlife Trusts director Stephen Trotter  and Dr Viviane Gravey public policy lecturer from Queen’s University Belfast indicated that they remained concerned about the future of conservation law during the latest hearing of the House of Commons Environmental Audit Committee’s (EAC) ongoing inquiry on 11 October.
