Manchester man prosecuted for burying waste on his own land

The EA says its successful prosecution should deter landowners from disposing of waste without a permit

Steven Bulmer was fined £1,000 and ordered to pay £12,500 in costs at Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court on 26 October.

At court Bulmer pleaded guilty to operating a regulated facility without an environmental permit on his land at Sawfield Nurseries in Fairy Lane, Sale. This contravened regulations 12 and 38(1)(a) of the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2010.
