Tom Brown has been appointed environmental compliance officer at Andigestion’s new anaerobic digestion plant in Bishops Cleeve.

Brown has a Master’s degree in environmental consultancy and has previous experience as a technical manager at an organic waste solutions company in Lancashire.

The new appointment comes as Andigestion invests £2.3m into a biomethane cleaning plant which will enable the company to export 3,000,000 cubic meters of renewable natural gas per year to the National Grid for use across Gloucestershire.

Brown said: “It’s a really exciting time to join Andigestion. The new facility in Bishops Cleeve is state of the art and now that we’re starting to take in food waste from domestic collections and schools in Gloucestershire, we can start putting gas back into the National Grid for use by local homes”.

Andigestion’s new Bishops Cleeve site processes food waste from Gloucestershire and the surrounding areas. As part of the recycling process they also produce biomethane gas, which is put back into the National Grid, and liquid fertiliser, for use by local farmers. Brown will be responsible for liaising with the Environment Agency and monitoring quality control across the plant.
