HMRC reveals £150m loss to landfill tax evasion

The misclassification and under-declaration of waste have driven an increasing amount of landfill tax to be lost to the public purse

In this year’s annual tax gap report, published on 20 October, HMRC has for the first time included its calculations for landfill alongside VAT, excise, income and corporation tax.
