Natural England: Looking at the bigger picture

Alan Law, Natural England’s chief officer for strategy and reform, talks to Rachel Salvidge about regulation, partnerships and finally delivering the Lawton agenda

Alan LawAlan Law describes himself as a lifetime conservationist and his CV bears this out. With a background in zoology, he worked at English Nature throughout its existence, and then moved on to Natural England where in 2015 he was appointed chief officer for strategy and reform. 

These are critical times for Natural England. Numerous reports show biodiversity to be in steady decline, resources are strained and Brexit has thrown the whole DEFRA applecart into the air, leaving everyone waiting to see where the fruit will land.
