UK ratifies Paris Agreement

The government has announced the UK’s ratification of the Paris Agreement on climate change as states discuss its implementation at COP22

BEIS announced the decision on 17 November as climate minister Nick Hurd attended the first conference of the parties to the Paris Agreement (COP22) in Marrakech.

The agreement, which calls for action to keep global warming within 1.5°C-2°C to avoid dangerous climate change, formally came into force on 4 November after passing its ratification threshold.
