Glasgow building firm fined for polluting stream

A Scottish construction company has been fined £4,000 for repeatedly discharging surface water run-off contaminated with suspended solids into a watercourse

Allma Construction Ltd pleaded guilty to illegally discharging contaminated surface water run-off into Bothlin Burn at Glasgow Sherriff Court on 23 November.

The company was carrying out earthworks at a construction site at Kirkintilloch and discharged the discoloured run-off, which contained suspended solids, into the burn several  times between 26 June 2012 and 4 July 2013.
