UK research team to lead international nitrogen project

The UN has green-lit a project aiming to battle poor nitrogen management in power generation and agriculture, with a UK professor heading up the research

Professor Mark SuttonThe UK Centre for Ecology and Hydrology (CEH) is to lead a $60m international initiative to better manage nitrogen within the power and agricultural industries.

The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and the International Nitrogen Initiative (INI) launched the Towards Environment and the International Nitrogen Management System (INMS) project in Australia on 5 December. It will be funded through the independent body the Global Environment Facility, as well as project partners, and executed through the UK’s Natural Environment Research Council and CEH.
