EU nanomaterial safety body to be set up

The European Chemicals Agency has formally started work on an EU Observatory for Nanomaterials

The new body will gather information on the safety of products such as carbon nanotubes. Photograph: 123RFA new body is being set up to provide independent information on the safety of nanomaterials by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA).

The European Commission signed a five-year agreement to delegate the task of creating the EU Observatory for Nanomaterials (EU-ON) to the regulator on 7 December.
