British Gas to pay £4.5m for missing meter deadline

A multi-million pound order has been handed to British Gas Business for failing to roll out enough advanced electricity meters

The hefty penalty was announced by the Gas and Electricity Markets Authority on 7 December after the company missed the government’s April 2014 deadline for installing 52,000 advanced meter points across its 43,000 medium and large businesses. This was in breach of condition 12 of its electricity supply licence.
