High Court allows fracking in North Yorkshire

Shale gas exploration is to go ahead in North Yorkshire after Friends of the Earth and local anti-fracking campaigners lost their legal challenge

In May, North Yorkshire County Council had voted in favour of Third Energy’s application to hydraulically fracture, test and produce gas from existing production facilities at Kirby Misperton. But local anti-fracking group Frack Free Ryedale and Friends of the Earth said the decision was illegal and sought a judicial review.
