Noise directive receives ringing endorsement

The European Commission has backed the EU’s Environmental Noise Directive following an investigation of its effectiveness

Its report, published on 16 December, follows a ‘REFIT’ investigation of the law’s effectiveness and concludes that difficulties in implementing it have largely been the fault of member states rather than problems with the legislation itself.
