US and Australia cotton on to sustainability

The US and Australia are using sustainability to jointly promote their cotton industries to the global clothing sector

Thirty European, American and Chinese textile companies have joined a joint US-Australian sustainable cotton initiative.

Known as Cotton Leads, the initiative was set up last October to provide a sustainable and traceable source of ‘responsibly grown’ cotton to the global textiles market.

It is run by the Cotton Foundation, the research and educational arm of the US cotton industry. Founding members include trade and research body Cotton Australia and the National Cotton Council of America.
