Two councils have dropped a judicial review against DEFRA because they were unlikely to win back £65m of cancelled support for an incinerator

Two Yorkshire councils have dropped a legal challenge over the government’s decision to withdraw financial backing from an energy-from-waste (EfW) project last year.

Last August, the high court granted North Yorkshire County Council and City of York Council a judicial Review of DEFRA’s decision to remove £65m of private finance initiative (PFI) credits from an incinerator project at Alleron.
