Cosmetics firm agrees record £190k civil sanction

GR & MM Blackledge has agreed to pay the largest enforcement undertaking yet for breaching environmental rules

A cosmetics manufacturer has agreed to pay the largest enforcement undertaking for an environmental offence to date.

Chorley-based GR & MM Blackledge Plc will donate £191,107 to the Lancashire Wildlife Trust for breaching packaging waste rules.

The company, which owns the cosmetics brand and chain Bodycare, did not register as a packaging producer or recycle its packaging. This breached regulations 40(1)(a) and (b) of the Producer Responsibility Obligations (Packaging Waste) Regulations 2007.
