“Nearly all” government departments feel the Committee on Climate Change (CCC) strays too close to lobbying when it provides advice to government and is risking undermining its credibility.

Some departments also feel the body “doesn’t take sufficient account of ‘politics’ in its advice… and how this might affect the feasibility of [its] recommendations”. For example, the body assumes there will be an international climate change deal struck in 2015 despite the current lack of progress in negotiations.
