Brewers meet 2020 CO2 goal

The British Beer and Pub Association will set a new carbon target this year after members hit its current objective.

Britain’s brewers have met a 2020 carbon target eight years early, according to the latest environment report from the British Beer and Pub Association.

Its members, covering 96% of UK-brewed beer, cut emissions by 4.4% in 2012, the report says. Emissions now stand at 363,783 tonnes, 67% below 1990 levels, in line with a target set in 2010 (ENDS Report 431, p9). Emissions have dropped by about 15% since the target was set. The association says it will set a new “challenging” carbon target this year.
