Alison CarterShould the UK government work harder to protect citizens from the dangers lurking in the air by calling for tougher clean air targets? Recent evidence indicates it should because current European limits for particulate pollution may not be low enough to secure safe air.

Air quality in the UK has improved significantly in recent decades. Policies targeting cleaner technologies and fuels have reduced emissions of air pollutants and we no longer peer through yellow peasoupers to spot lamp posts.
