Updated standard launched for emissions reporting

Updated guidance on reporting indirect emissions have been announced in an attempt to encourage businesses to switch to renewables

Updated accounting guidance  for companies and governments reporting on their Scope 2 emissions was launched by the World Resources Institute on 20 January in a bid to encourage a switch to renewables. 

Scope 2 emissions consist of a company’s indirect emissions resulting from consumption of purchased electricity, heat or steam.

The Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG-P) international accounting framework outlines how companies should measure and report their greenhouse gas emissions. It now features Guarantees of Origin, which prove that energy comes from renewable sources.
