Contracts for difference awards expected in February

Renewables developers will know whether they have secured a contract for difference agreement by the end of February, three weeks earlier than expected

A timetable for contracts for difference (CfD) auctions has finally been set after energy regulator Ofgem completed an appeals process ahead of schedule.

The sealed bid auctions will now take place between 29 January and 4 February.

This means that National Grid will be able to notify applicants about the outcome of the current CfD allocation round on 26 February, three weeks earlier than expected.

Applicants will have until 27 March to sign and return the contracts to the Low Carbon Contracts Company (LCCC), the government’s CfD management body.
