GDF Suez, Scottish Power and SSE fined for missing targets

Three major energy companies have been fined a total of £4.6m for failing to meet targets under the Community Energy Savings Programme

Three major energy companies have been fined a total of £4.6m for failing to meet targets under the Community Energy Savings Programme (CESP).

Ofgem secured a £450,000 payment from generator owner GDF Suez, £2.4m from Scottish Power and £1.75m from SSE. 

Under CESP, generators as well as energy suppliers were obligated to deliver energy-saving measures to households in low-income areas by the end of December 2012. The scheme was designed to lower carbon emissions and lower bills for households.
