UK air quality strategies slammed

DEFRA has come under fire for plans to slash local air quality reporting and has been told that its existing national strategy needs urgent reform

Air quality monitoring: Looking after future generations (Hirokazan/CC by 2.0)DEFRA is under intense criticism for its plans to degrade local air quality monitoring and for its fragmented national strategy, which MPs have described as “unacceptable“. 

Plans to reduce local air quality monitoring and reporting in England were outlined in a consultation on reforming the local air quality management regime (LAQM) published in December.1 It is the second of three consultations in this area.
