Fracking fluid to be disclosed

An amendment to the Infrastructure Bill that would legally require fracking companies to disclose the contents of their fracking fluids has been adopted

An amendment to the Infrastructure Bill that would legally require fracking companies to disclose the contents of their fracking fluids has been adopted. 

The clause was added to the bill by Labour during a committee debate on 14 January.

A further amendment, which would require operators to undertake baseline monitoring of methane gas in groundwater, was also successfully adopted. Operators had previously expressed a willingness to do this on a voluntary basis.
