DECC launches £100k community energy competition

Community groups can apply for a share of up to £20,000 for innovative projects that help save energy and cut bills

DECC has launched a new £100,000 community energy competition to help cut energy bills.

The fund, announced on 26 January, allows community groups and other eligible organisations across England to apply for up to £20,000 each to develop innovative energy-saving ideas.

Successful applicants must be able to show the biggest potential drop in energy consumption and bills.

DECC says the ideas can be anything from hosting an energy advice stall in a local shopping centre to crowd-funding solar panels for a local church.
