High level radioactive waste advisors face review

A triennial review into the future of the Committee on Radioactive Waste Management comes amid continuing uncertainty over high level waste disposal

DECC has announced a triennial review of the advisory Committee on Radioactive Waste Management (CoRWM).

The review, announced on 27 January, is a regular procedure, but it comes at a difficult time for the UK’s stalled high level nuclear waste programme.   

The current remit of the twelve member body is to provide independent scrutiny and advice to the UK government and devolved administrations on the long-term management of higher activity radioactive wastes.
