Global emissions calculator set to energise climate debate

A DECC-led global greenhouse gas emissions calculator tool will enable policymakers to develop plausible 2°C scenarios ahead of the UN climate summit

A powerful new interactive tool for comparing the climate impacts of different economic scenarios has been launched.

The ‘Global Calculator’ has been designed for businesses, NGOs and governments to consider their options for cutting carbon emissions and the trade-offs for energy and land use to 2050.

The tool is is intended to inform and energise the climate policy debate up to and beyond crucial UN climate negotiations in Paris in December. It is likely to be invaluable for enabling nations to develop and reality-check emissions reduction targets and policies.
