CCC calls for immediate action to meet carbon budgets

Underlying progress in meeting the UK’s future carbon budgets has been patchy, the CCC has found, with policy uncertainty threatening low-carbon investment

The government must take immediate action to ensure investor clarity if future carbon budgets are to be met, according to its latest advisory report.

The Committee on Climate Change’s (CCC) 2014/15 carbon progress report, published on 30 June, praises the work that has been done so far on transforming the energy market and providing green energy incentives. But it says early action is needed to meet post-2020 carbon reductions on time and cost effectively.
