Seafood firm fined £35k for fat, oil and grease leak

A Grimsby seafood company has been prosecuted for discharging processing waste into the sewage system

Five Star Fish Ltd, a Grimsby-based fish processor and supplier, has been forced to pay more than £35,000 for breaching its trade effluent discharge consent with Anglian Water.

The prosecution took place on 29 June at Hull crown court and Anglian Water’s legal team believe it is the first time such a case has gone beyond magistrate level.

Five Star Fish pleaded guilty to breaching section 121(5) of the Water Industry Act 1991, and was fined £35,000 with £1740 costs.
