Wales set out new oil storage rules

The Welsh government is consulting on new regulations for oil storage to bolster its pollution safeguards

The Welsh government is introducing new rules on oil storage to fill in a regulatory gap has left it behind the rest of the UK in curbing pollution incidents.

The new regulations, set out in a public consultation published on 24 June, set minimum standards for oil storage facilities.

Central to the new requirements will be secondary containers that minimise the risk of pollution from leaking tanks. These are normally a bund or a drip tray, designed to collect oil leaking from storage containers.
