Kingfisher hits out at chemicals regulation

The retail sector is feeling the pressure as more chemicals are restricted under REACH

DIY giant Kingfisher has warned that the EU REACH regulation on chemicals is putting “unreasonable” demands on retailers following the addition of further substances to a candidate list for stringent controls.

The company insists that it supports the spirit of the legislation, but a spokesperson told ENDS that Kingfisher has written to both the European Commission and European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) to express concerns over the impacts on retailers.
