Green business pushes for post-2020 policy certainty

The Aldersgate Group has stressed the need for a clear policy framework on renewable energy, an energy efficiency revamp and international action to cut the costs of low-carbon infrastructure

Investors urgently need clarity on low-carbon policies after 2020, according to green business lobby group Aldersgate Group.

The report, published on 7 July, says the government needs to establish the size of the levy control framework (LCF) “well into the 2020s” and avoid retrospective changes to existing policy to cut the costs of low-carbon infrastructure.

The Aldersgate Group stresses that making energy efficiency a national infrastructure priority would need to be backed up by joined-up thinking by government departments, and funds and policies that are “tailored to different categories of energy efficiency measures, including commercial energy efficiency”.
