Government reneges on pledge to protect SSSIs from fracking

The government has reignited controversy over shale gas exploration in protected areas by failing to put forward all of the protective measures previously promised

On 16 July, the government tabled draft secondary legislation of the Infrastructure Act 2015 which details specific areas that cannot be fracked.
