Green belt protection reaffirmed in incinerator refusal

The building of a 380,000-tonne EfW plant in Hatfield has been opposed for the second time by DCLG on the grounds it would harm protected land

Former communities and local government (DCLG) secretary Eric Pickles turned down Veolia’s application to build an energy-from-waste (EfW) plant on a 12.6-hectare site south of Hatfield in July 2014.
